Wheal Owles at Botallack used as the filming location of the ficticious Wheal Leisure in the 2015 TV series Poldark

If you haven’t  already organised a break away for Easter then why not look at getting away from the hussle and bussle of the city and visit the beautiful countryside or coastal areas we have not so far away here in the UK. It is often easy to forget about the beautiful spots to frolic and relax, right here on our very own doorstep. So, let us remind you…

Marlow, Henley & Cookham

Henley is close to Windsor, so for all culture vultures this is a great place to catch up on a history lesson. There are 3 charming bridge towns; they have been dedicated to seriously affluent riverside leisure for the last 150 years. Marlow remains a sweet old riverside town with strong literary associations. The riverbanks also have the finest dining outside the capital, with a clutch of Michelin-starred establishments, old and new, in the pretty village of Bray, and various others within easy reach around the countryside.

Barafundle Bay Beach

Barafundle Bay on the Pembrokeshire coast is spellbinding. You walk along a cliff path from nearby Stackpole Quay and through a stone archway to find it, but once you do you’ll feel you’re in a different country.

Cornwall

There are many things that Cornwall is loved for; the dramatic coastline with its fishing harbours; the spectacular beaches and the pounding surf that provide a natural playground for a variety of watersports; and of course the Cornish pasty and cream teas.

Cornwall is also known for a food scene to rival London and beyond. Cornwall now has a multitude of award-winning local food producers and stellar chefs putting the region on the map for great grub.

Bristol

In the hills of South West England, Bristol has played host to all year round festivals, award-winning cycle tracks, gastronomy of every flavour in rejuvenated warehouses and behind secret doorways, stunning cityscapes and awe-inspiring street art. Bristol is a hub of exciting festivals and fairs not forgetting its famous seaside. Compact enough to get around on foot, yet big enough to boast an exciting line-up of entertainment, Bristol has lots to offer.
