Prepare your skin for autumn

We can’t quite believe it either; it’s that time of year again! I’m sure you’re already thinking about your winter wardrobe – maybe you’ve already invested in some woolly numbers. Yes, the weather’s getting cooler and the leaves are starting to fall off the trees but that doesn’t mean you should fall short on your usual skincare regime. Whilst we often talk about how we should switch up our wardrobe for winter, we don’t always consider changing up our skincare regime. No matter what they season – whether it’s summer, autumn, winter or spring – our skin needs special attention and it’s important to learn how we can take care of our skin’s needs during the colder months.

As far as the autumn goes, the atmosphere is much cooler and dryer than other seasons, so getting your skincare regime right is really important. Other websites or blogs will go into huge depth about the best products and methods but actually, the remedy for preventing skin dryness in autumn is a simple one: moisturise, protect and prepare. If you do these 3 steps already, that’s great! If not, you may want to start thinking about adding them to your daily beauty regime. We’ve pulled together our top 5 tips to prepare your skin for autumn:

Eat Green

Try adding some seasonal fresh ingredients into your diet to keep those autumn blues at bay. Believe it or not, fresh fruit and vegetables can actually improve the condition of your skin. Give apples, avocados, chestnuts, sweet potatoes and bananas a go.

Your summer moisturisers sadly won’t cut it during the autumn and winter, so it’s time to invest in a moisturiser with rich oils that replenish and repair. Baste yourself in moisturiser twice a day for maximum effect.

Stay Hydrated

Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to keep your skin moisturised and eliminate toxins.

Give Yourself a Boost

Treat yourself to a face mask 2 or 3 times a week to give you skin an extra boost. Choose one that’s rich in nutrients, and that isn’t too harsh on your skin.

Exfoliate (Gently!)

Summer damage can result in cellular build up; to effectively remove the dead skin cells and smooth the skin, it’s best to frequently exfoliate. Go for more natural formulations and PH-balanced products that are kind to your skin.
