The weather is turning, winter clothes are being stored away and it will soon be time for sandals and flip-flops.

The best thing about the great British summer is outdoor parties whether in the back garden or a roof top, enjoying the little sunshine we get yearly with friends and some nibbles is a wonderful tradition. Read on for our tips on how to throw the best Summer soiree.

Firstly, plan ahead. We know it sounds obvious but checking the weather forecast early will make sure that you are not disappointed with a downpour of rain on the day. After you have decided on your sunny day, plan the menu. You don’t want to be left with hungry guests or want to spend a huge amount of time in the kitchen missing all the fun so make sure that you have pre-prepared as much as possible so that you can relax and enjoy yourself.

We suggest looking at recipes from Lorna Jane’s new cookbook called Clean and simple eating for healthy recipes.

If you are having a rooftop party, the perfect way to end the evening is watching the sun set whilst sipping on cold cocktails. We suggest that you make sure that your party area is comfortable and well lit. The best way to do this is with cushions and candles. Look into getting some stools to dot around so people can rest their feet if needed. We love these blue ones from HEAL’s

Keep the area lit up after the sun is down with these beautiful lanterns from Not On The High Street.

Now for cocktails! Designate a person in charge of drinks for the day so that cocktails are regularly replenished, we suggest mojito’s as they are long, refreshing and easy to make. Add different fruits into mojito’s to mix it up.

Lastly, and most importantly make sure that you have a play list of different types of music – we suggest having some chilled tunes mixed in with up beat music for use throughout the day. Just make sure that you have enough music for a couple of hours as there is nothing worse that a repeated playlist!

All that is left to do is have fun!
