2012 has been a great year for fashion and notable styles, with high-street trends covering everything from printed jeans to peplum tops. But with too many amazing dresses to mention, we’re taking a look at a couple of our favourite and most iconic dress moments from the last year.

2011 was an amazing year for Kate Middleton, and she certainly stepped into 2012 with style with her extensive dress collection and classic style. The style icon stole the nation’s hearts and caught fashionista’s eyes across the globe with her elegant yet down to earth fashion sense. Her enviable wardrobe features numbers from designers such as Alexander McQueen and Issa, as well as Jenny Packham – we all remember that jaw-dropping teal Jenny Packham gown she wore to the London Olympic Gala back in May, she looked simply stunning.

The Duchess of Cambridge oozes elegance and femininity and has women all over attempting to replicate her look. Kate first set the fashion scene alight in 2010 at the announcement of her engagement to Prince William, with the royal blue Issa dress selling out across the country the same day.

The red carpets were alive with iconic dresses throughout 2012, but Angelina Jolie made sure she stole the limelight whenever she stepped out on to the carpet last year.  Angelina made countless appearances at awards and premieres and graced the red carpet with her signature look of floor length gowns with high slits to show her pins.  For 2012’s Oscars, Angelina stunned with a sultry black Versace gown, with one leg on show of course!

Michelle Obama also wowed us in 2012 and proved she’s the First Lady of fashion, with a collection of colourful prints and classic cut dresses to flatter her slim and curvy figure. Gwyneth Paltrow also dazzled in a white Tom Ford number at the 2012 Oscars – with matching floor length cape.

Who else do you think deserves a spot in the 2012 Iconic Dress Moments hall of fame?
