Candy Cane Trend

As soon as the sun starts shining, our usual wardrobe of blacks and browns become banished as we start reaching for pastels and brights to match the season. A colourful palette is unavoidable – but for those of us who’d rather stick to our year-round neutrals, it can be difficult to know how to incorporate the trend for candy cane colours into our everyday wear.

We may be a little biased, but we definitely think that underwear is a great way to incorporate trends and have fun with fashion – even if you have to, or want to, wear something plain on top. Unless you are wearing something sheer or white, you can definitely get away with wearing candy coloured undies – guaranteed to put a spring in your step. The latest Superbra by Panache collection is chock-full of flattering bras in a rainbow array of shades which are sure to catch your eye; from the Caribbean blue lace of the Andorra to the flamingo pink of our ever-popular Tango there’s a shade to suit every taste. Depending on the style of the bra, candy colours can be pretty and cute, or bold and sexy, so why not buy a selection to suit your mood?

Make-up is another fun way to incorporate the candy colour trend, and can be as subtle or as outrageous as you like! Nail polish is a quick and easy way to bring ice-cream shades into your outfit, and the choice of colours is endless. A different colour on each finger and toe, perhaps? If you want to try candy make-up on your face, choose one feature (eyes, cheeks, lips) to highlight and keep the rest of your make-up subtle to avoid looking too overdone. For cheeks, use a candy pink cream blush to highlight your cheekbones and be sure to blend thoroughly to give a sweet and stylish look. If your lips are you best feature, opt for a bright lipstick and top with a shimmering gloss for a total candy style.

When it comes to eye make-up you can be as creative as you like – a quick sweep of a mint green or pastel blue is a brilliant daytime look, but you can let your wild side out by blending various candy colours across your eye lid for a striking style which will definitely turn heads! Pair with coloured eyeliner or coloured mascara if you really want to go all out, or with cat-eye black kohl and a swipe of black mascara for a more sophisticated take. When using colour in make-up, invest in a good base or primer to keep your masterpiece in place all day long.

How will you be wearing the candy cane trend?
