Sylwia Błach
Sylwia is a blogger, author and software programmer, and an ambassador for disabled people in Poland. Despite suffering from spinal muscular atrophy and using a wheelchair from an early age, nothing has stopped her chasing her dreams and helping others to do the same. Her blog “Rozkosze umysłu” (Pleasures of the mind) shares her successes and frustrations, inspiring other wheelchair-bound women in Poland to follow their dreams and live an extraordinary life.
Her second blog, VamppiV, is about Sylwia’s personal style, a mix of rock, gothic and new fashion trends. This has also been a huge inspiration to disabled women in Poland, as she promotes a positive body image with ideas for flattering looks that are fashionable and inclusive. Professionally, Sylwia is part of the One and Only Foundation (Jedyna Taka), which runs a model agency for disabled models and organises the Miss Poland Wheelchair competition – next year they’re planning Miss World Wheelchair.
Sylwia also works as a software programmer for a computer games producer, and has won many awards for her artistic, literary, scientific and charitable work.
