We’re counting down the days until our summer holidays, dreaming of sunshine, sea and sand – after the bleak winter we’ve just had, we all deserve a break sipping cocktails by the pool. But after months of snuggling under duvets and snacking to keep warm, the thought of stripping off to all but a bikini (even if it is a brilliantly fitted and super stylish Panache bikini!) can be a bit daunting. Luckily, your dream beach body is not out of reach – incorporating a few key exercises into your regime will have you fit and ready to brave the bikini in no time!

Combining a mixture of fat-burning cardio and toning exercises will help you towards your goal and reshape your body into your dream figure. You should aim for 30 minutes of cardio three to five times a week; why not sign up to a Zumba class or join your local swimming pool? Finding an exercise which you enjoy, whether that’s running, cycling, dancing, swimming or something else entirely, will help keep you on track and make you work harder to burn those calories.

Toning exercises can help you tighten up the areas of your body which will be on show when you don your bikini by the pool. If you want to improve your stomach muscles and your core strength, try crunches or the dreaded ‘plank’. To target legs and bum, go for squats, burpees and lunges, whereas to tone arms, go for push-ups or lift free-weights. Yoga and Pilates are a great alternative, as they both provide overall body toning and strengthening. You may also be able to find body toning or conditioning classes offered at your gym, so check these out if you need some guidance on what exercises to do, and how many times to do each move.

Make sure you’re eating a healthy, balanced diet alongside your workouts, and keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water. If you’re struggling to keep motivated, why not rope along a friend – even better if you are going on holiday together – you can remind each other why you’re doing this and give each other encouragement. Start now, and by the time your holiday rolls around you’ll be confident in your bikini and ready to strut your stuff on the beach!
