While we absolutely love getting dressed up for Halloween in the wildest costume possible, we also like to incorporate a touch of spookiness to our everyday look in the week surrounding Halloween. Radiate nothing but chic sultriness this All Hallow’s Eve and feel all kinds of feminine for it.
Clothes wise, we think leather is the way to go. A black shift dress in the wearable fabric would have a sort of Catwoman-like feel to it, no? Wear one with a pair of smart pumps for work, or give the dress a cooler look with embellished ankle boots outside of the office. You also can’t go wrong with dark velvet. How about wearing a lovely wine-coloured velvet skater skirt or cover-up? On top of that, wear shimmering black – an oversized shirt or ruched-down ankle socks are perfect ways to do this – and wear sheer tights with a higher denier pattern for an exciting look.
One of the easiest ways to add a little spookiness to your October look is with beauty products. Work vampy lipsticks in burgundy, wine and plum shades with a purple tint. In addition, you could work a subtle smoky eye to match, or go all-out and forget the lipstick. To take it even further, experiment with false eyelashes or other exciting products you might not have tried before. To enhance your mysterious exterior, opt for amazing nails. Choose a dark shade and play around with lace overlaying, spooky nail art or a touch of glitter. That’s the best thing about painting your nails – you really can have fun with it, and the results will earn you tons of compliments.
Add an autumnal accessory to complete the look. We’re currently favouring burgundy bowler hats, chiffon scarves and jewellery encompassing crosses, vintage finishing and spooky motifs.
Do you get the desire to work dark colours and a spooky look come 31st October?
