As we welcome the first snow of 2013 we thought why not treat you to a wander through the main trends for 2013 fashion, so pull up a chair and let us guide you through Emerald, Pinstripes and androgynous tailoring.
Let us begin with the ethereal beauty that is Emerald, it is known as the ‘Power Stone’ by the jewellery connoisseurs, it signifies wealth, success and prosperity and let’s face it at the start of a new year what more could we all want. The rich jewel tone has also been named as the official colour of 2013 by Pantone.
Emerald can be flattering for just about everyone regardless of skin tone or hair colour, it’s all about how you wear it. Go bold with head to toe emerald in a cotton wrap dress or jersey body con if you are brave; if you are a fan of colour blocking then add a flash of clashing tangerine or azure; maybe you prefer your brights with nudes tones, if so then an emerald pencil skirt with fawn jumper is a great work look teamed with statement heels. Finally if you just want a nod to the trend then how about an emerald accent in your accessories, jewellery or even sunglasses.
Pinstripes are usually associated with the city bankers and Madonna circa 1990 in her Vogue video, fast-forward to 2013 and the look is all about blending structured stripes with feminine details, a great combination is a pair of structured cigarette trousers with a chalk stripe in grey or white matched with a sheer shirt or backless jumper. The mix of the two looks highlights the structure of the pinstripe without harking back to 80’s power dressing. There is a huge variety of pinstripe styles, search around for the most flattering for you. Take time to find pinstripes that fit perfectly, to ensure that the stripe is not distorted.
Finally, our favourite of the 2013 trends, androgyny. This trend blurs the line between masculine and feminine, it isn’t all about suits and ridged styles though. Think more along the lines of stealing your boyfriend’s jeans and pairing them with killer heels and gothic leather jacket. A skinny fit buttoned up shirt with skater skirt is a great way to wear this blended trend. To ensure that you maintain some femininity, show a little skin, a flash of chunky jewellery or add a pair of pointed courts to incorporate your style as a woman.
So which trend will you be embracing in 2013?
