The recent release of Skyfall, Bond’s latest adventure, has got us thinking about all the Bond girls through the years. Not only sassy, sexy and strong, these actresses have inspired women to embrace their inner femininity. Some of the most iconic pieces from these films will be displayed in London’s Barbican centre to celebrate 50 years of fantastic films and iconic outfits.
The most famous bond girl by far would have to be Jill Masterson who was played by Shirley Eaton in Goldfinger. She was the first Bond girl to be killed off after betraying her evil boss, and was found with her entire body painted gold wearing nothing but a simple pair of knickers.
Another iconic Bond girl would have to be Ursula Andress, who starred in the first bond film Dr. No in her famous white bikini. The style of this bikini was recreated in orange on Halle Berry in Die Another Day years later. With a wide belt across the bottoms and a plunge-style top, this style is flattering on most figures and is sure to make you feel like a superstar on your next holiday.
Bond girls haven’t always worn bikinis in their beach scenes. Claudine Auger who starred in the 1965 film Thunderball is seen in a beautiful costume showing off her voluptuous figure, with contrasting highlights to make the piece more appealing.
When they’re not on the beach executing perfect dive rolls on the beach, the Bond girls are usually in evening dresses in the casino ensuring their male counterparts – the most popular being Pierce Brosnan and Sean Connery – are kept safe and well, or sashaying across a room in a silk robe or lace chemise.
Famke Janssen’s outfit in Goldeneye teams a basque with a silver pencil skirt and matching jacket. This powerful outfit creates a strong silhouette in films peppered with floating ballroom dresses and silk robes. The new bond girl, Berenice Marlohe, is seen wrapped in a sumptuous silk robe looking sultry as all of her predecessors did. Perhaps a Bond girl robe is the perfect indulgent gift for yourself this Christmas.
